Meeting in the Middle

Last weekend we traveled down to Pueblo, CO for a mini family reunion of sorts. Peter's cousin and his family live in Pueblo, and recently had a sweet new baby girl. Peter's aunt (who lives in New York) was visiting her little granddaughter for the first time, so they all invited the rest of the Colorado, Wyoming, and New Mexico clan to come meet them in the "middle" and make a day of it!

Because nothing says "family" like a photo op with a bunch of screaming kids...

It's been a few years since we all gathered together for Peter's brother's wedding, and since then, three new kids have been added to the mix. Peter's grandma also made it, and it was awesome to see her surrounded by so many of her great-grandkids (although there were a few more who couldn't make it)! The nice relaxed setting was perfect for catching up and facilitating the happy reunion of grandmothers and their grandbabies, godparents and godchildren, cousins, aunts, and uncles galore! Our wonderful hosts also rented a bounce house for the kids--which it turns out is the perfect baby sitter, in case you're wondering. We're so glad we got the chance to see everyone and can't wait till next time!

Grandma Hjelmstad and (almost) all of the great-grandkids!

  1. How wonderful, Megan! This must have been so nice for all of you to be together and relax and visit! Usually we get together at a wedding and everyone is either bored or screaming over the way too loud music. So happy you all had fun, and the best babysitter award goes out to your hosts for the bouncy house idea. Genius!! : )
