A Fork in the Road...

If you come to a fork in the road, take it. -Yogi Berra

The time has come to make some changes around here.
And get personal.
And professional.

You in?

Let me explain. For as long as I can remember I've walked around writing stuff in my head. In the same way mathematicians love to solve equations (which I will never understand), I delight in putting words together. Or taking someone else's words and arranging them in a more delectable way. (Yes, my friends, I am that weirdo who actually enjoyed proofing your English paper). Poetry, prose, doesn't matter. I love to read it and write it all. The fact that I can combine so many other passions within my writing--helping others, exploring culture, bragging about my kids, sharing life lessons--is a pretty awesome bonus. You can't do that with math, can you?

It's been a long-time dream of mine to take the passions I share through writing and turn it into a real live career. (Akin to the starving artist...but with pen and paper...and a sugar daddy). But let's be honest: there's only so much room in professional writing for twenty embedded videos of my 10-month-old genius. So, as I move forward with my writing, the roads will diverge in two equally great ways. Home Sweet Hjelmstad will still exist, but I'm grabbing the bull by the horns and becoming...dunt dunt duh...a multiple-personality blogger! Or, in more professional terms, pursuing the (imperfect yet) serious writer in me, beginning with a new professional blog and Facebook page: Positively (Im)Perfect!

So, this is the part that involves you:

Some of you share my sentiments regarding the kids and enjoy seeing the endless stream of pictures and videos I post for every birthday, anniversary, weekday, holiday, and crafty inspiration. Points for you! You get to keep coming back here at Home Sweet Hjelmstad for more of that. MUCH more.

Others of you are more interested in my thoughtful little musings on life lessons, big and small, that apply to the world at large. And you flatter me by reading all about it! Super cool points for you, too. You get to head on over to the new snazzy, shiny, professional blog -- postivelyimperfect.com -- to see the latest in such musings! To make sure you catch it all, you can subscribe or become a follower and flatter me even more! You can also "like" the new Facebook page 'Positively Imperfect by Megan Hjelmstad' to continue getting the latest Facebook updates in your news feed (because we know it's all about the Facebook).

Still others of you want both the personal and the professional fodder. Well, you're in luck. You get double cool points AND can follow both Home Sweet Hjelmstad and Positively Imperfect till the cows come home! Pretty sweet, huh?

Anyway, for those who have made it this far, and who will continue to stick with me as this adventure unfolds, many thanks. Really. Thanks for your unconditional love, your continual inspiration, and your unwavering support. When, I daresay, the publishers start calling--be it one year or ten years from now--you will be remembered with just as much love...and probably a book dedication!

Now, as the French would say, on y va!
